Māori Graphic Design

Form of Communication

Māori Graphic design is a form of communication which uses Māori motifs and or images to present information. Because graphic design embraces a wide range of skills such as image manipulation, colour, typography and layout it is extremely versatile and limited only to the imagination.

Uses of Māori Graphic Design

Māori design is unique to the South Pacific and has been used in the print, electronic and multimedia industry and has been used in corporate identities, logo designs and artwork.

Since the introduction of desktop publishing in the mid 1980s and the use of software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Freehand and Pagemaker it gave designers the ability to manipulate and create computer images in 3D.

My experience of using this technology as an artist has allowed me to go beyond the limitations set down by traditional methods of art which I found was too slow. I can now push the boundaries of visual communication which is limited only to my imagination.
