Māori Digital Art
Digital art is relatively new to the art world and involves a great deal of knowledge both in design and computer graphics. Māori digital art could be defined as creating a digital art work using a combination of graphic design, illustration, image manipulation both 2D and 3D, with a Māori theme. Digital art pulls together all disciplines of design and communication as well as digital media into one single area demanding the highest of skill.
Following is an example of a digital
art piece Mauri Ora or Life Force. Now called
appropriately,Kaitiakitanga. I drew from elements that I identified
as being symbols of life such as the earth, moon and stars. In the
center which is the focus, I placed a baby representing humanity
reminding us that we are still infants within a huge universe surrounded
by the power of nature.
